ABOUT

2020’s A Hero’s Death saw Fontaines D.C. land a #2 album in he UK, receive nominations at the GRAMMYs, BRITs and Ivor Novello Awards, and sell out London’s iconic Alexandra Palace.

This Blood Records exclusive edition of their new album 'Skinty Fia' comes pressed to animated zoetrope picture disc, hand numbered on a first-come-first-served-basis.

Used colloquially as an expletive, the title roughly translates from the Irish language into English as “the damnation of the deer”; the spelling crassly anglicised, and its meaning diluted through generations. Part bittersweet romance, part darkly political triumph - the songs ultimately form a long-distance love letter, one that laments an increasingly privatised culture in danger of going the way of the extinct Irish giant deer.

——————————————————————-

How To View: To get the most out of your zoetrope and see the animated effects, try one of the methods below.

For the clearest results, use bright, even lighting and keep your camera steady above the record. If using strobe effects, please be mindful of anyone nearby who may be sensitive to flashing lights.

  • View or record the animation through your phone camera, with the frame rate set to 30 or 60 FPS.
  • Use a zoetrope or strobe-light app.
  • Use an adjustable LED strobe light to view the animation with the naked eye.

——————————————————————-

Please note: Due to the way picture discs (including zoetropes) are manufactured, they can produce slightly more surface noise during playback than traditional vinyl, particularly during quieter moments. This is a well-known characteristic of the format and isn't unique to our pressings.
