From Dead Nature, the solo project of former Spring King singer and prolific producer Tarek Musa, comes debut album’ Watch me Break Apart’, exclusively pressed to sunburst green and yellow vinyl for Blood Records.
Surrounded by the controlled chaos of his box-sized studio in Liverpool’s creative Baltic Triangle, Tarek has been a force to be reckoned with collaborating with the likes of The Big Moon, Calva Louise, Circa Waves, Gengahr and more. This solo material has already won the backing of the likes of BBC 6 Music and Radio 1.
Writing, recording and self-producing his music to a backdrop of exposed brickwork absorbing the sounds of his musical neighbours’ practice rooms, his own Musa Studios is where the Dead Nature project came to life. As drummer of Spring King, Tarek echoed the ferocity of the hypnotic djembe drummers who soundtracked his youth, yet it was his simplistic bedroom recordings which propelled the band’s album Tell Me If You Like To from garage to greatness.
Receiving Sennheiser’s Studio Excellence Award (2011) and MPG’s ‘Self-Produced Artist’s Award (2017) for his production, songwriting and mixing, tech fans and vinyl lovers alike were hooked. Support followed from BBC’s Jools Holland and Steve Lamacq, Spotify, and Zane Lowe’s Apple Music Beats 1 led to syncs for FIFA 17, Gran Turismo and Guitar Hero, not to mention international support slots with the likes of Courtney Barnett and Cage The Elephant.
Throughout Watch Me Break Apart, internal anxieties are made external, and re-purposed into a carnival of multi-coloured, fuzzed-up indie-pop. This exclusive Blood Records release comes signed by Tarek and hand-numbered on a first-come-first served basis.
Please note that Blood Records is a pre-ordering platform and this record is due for release on July 23rd. All images for illustrative purposes.
